Substrata: Open World Dark Fantasy

I had the exquisite pleasure of contributing a bunch of pieces to Substrata, a fantasy-themed concept art book by Paul Richards and Helen Rusovich that features the talent of more than 80 artists from around the world. A good project summary with a few samples of the amazing work that's been submitted can be found in the publisher's announcement (some of the work has also been posted on CGHub). The book will be released in July and is available for preorder at Amazon and Barnes&Noble, among other places.

This is a roundup of everything I did for the book in a more or less chronological fashion. There isn't much of a storyline behind these, I started out with a bunch of fairly random demon ideas & subsequently tried to pull things together with some environment sketches.

On a related note, here's a teen drawing of mine that I found the other day, a golden eagle head study from 1993 (I was pretty intrigued by the concept of crosshatching then).
